A Few Upcoming Fall Book Releases I’m Excited For

If you’re a regular reader or you’ve read any of my posts from summer 2024, you’ll know that I am currently clawing my way out of an unrelenting reading slump. 

Something that almost always ends a reading slump immediately for me, is a new book. Whether it is a debut author who’s on my radar or a new book in a series, I previously enjoyed.

And fall is my absolute favorite time to read in because no matter the weather, it is always cozy reading vibes in fall! 

So I’ve compiled a short list of the books I’m looking forward to reading this fall, as well as taking recs for books you’re looking forward to reading! 

While this is a short Fantasy Romance book list, I am also open to other genres. Fall may not be for the Fantasy Romance girlies, it definitely is for the Dark Academia girlies and I have my Dark Academia Fall Reading list ready to go in another post. 

For now, let’s dive right in!

The Songbird & the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent – November 19, 2024

Why I want to read it: I love the Crowns of Nyaxia series so much. Six Scorched Roses is still hands down my favorite of the series thus far! I am so SO happy to return to this series and focus on Mische! 

Mische gives big Lucien from ACOTAR vibes (though a touch less sarcastic and more sassy) and I want to see her finally be happy after everything she has been through. 

I also just love how wholesome Raihn’s friendship is with Mische. So this is a much-anticipated read on my tbr list!

Throne of Secrets by Kerri Maniscalco – October 29th, 2024

Why I want to read it: I cannot seem to stay away from those Prince’s of Hell. 

It began with Wrath, continued with Greed, and now we move onto Gluttony. 

As much as I might not openly admit it, I am invested in the underworld. And ensuring that all of these Prince’s end up with feisty FMCs to keep them in line. 

While I was very much hoping we would get Pride’s book before another Prince’s, I will accept Gluttony’s book. And completely devour it like I did previous books. 

The Prince of Sin series is connected to the Kingdom of the Wicked series. So while we do see some characters from Kingdom of the Wicked, I do not think you need to read those books first, prior to reading the Prince of Sin series. 

Also, while the spice in these books is sometimes too much, at least Kerri Maniscalco indulges us. I just know now to have metaphorical tums on hand while reading her books.

A Dark and Secret Magic by Wallis Kinney – October 8th, 2024

Why I want to read it: Wallis Kinney’s debut book sounds like the ultimate autumnal witchy novel. The cover is also absolutely gorgeous and was what initially caught my attention. 

With early reviews referencing echoes of romance as Hades & Persephone retellings meets Practical Magic vibes, I am completely sold. 

Fingers crossed, I love this one as much as I think I will.

The Wild Huntress by Emily Lloyd-Jones – October 1st, 2024

Why I want to read it: I am a sucker for well thought out strong FMCs. When reading about this book, I discovered readers who enjoy Emily Lloyd-Jones’s books, love that she writes her books within her own Lloyd-Jones universe! 

I quite enjoy when author’s write multiple books within the same, established world of previous books. So while this author is fairly new to me. I think I am going to have a fantastic time discovering not only her talent with this book, but her other books as well. 

The summary does give undertones of a love triangle. I am not a fan of love triangles as they seem to always be done pretty subpar, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

And that’s it! This list is super short, I kept it that way on purpose. 

I didn’t want to overwhelm myself with options and upcoming reads and risk worsening my reading slump by being unable to pick a book to read. 

So two returning favorites and two new books should do just the trick.
